Katy was whelped in March, 1998 and is the result of years of breeding toward
Sandy's goal of a perfect buff cocker. Sandy wanted a buff girl who could
"do-it-all" and would have the brains and temperament for performance as
well as the beauty to compete in conformation. Katy was that dog.
She finished her
Championships owner handled all the way by Sandy and Jan. Sandy started Katy in
obedience training and then discovered agility. Katy was Sandy's first dog
to earn an agility title, she lived with Sandy, and was Sandy's soul-mate.
Katy was OFA Good, and CERF'd annually. Her most recent CERF was
February 2008. Katy was 10 years old. Her pedigree
is below. (Scroll to the bottom of the page.)
Katy earned her CD, ranking as
the #2 Cocker Spaniel on the First and Foremost Rating System for 2004
according to the March 2005 Front and Finish. In 2005 Katy earned
her RN in Rally Obedience.
But Katy REALLY loved agility. Katy
and Sandy started trialing together in 2000, and had earned the OA & OAJ
titles with legs in both Excellent Standard and Excellent Jumpers when
Katy had a sudden inner-ear infection that paralyzed the right side of her
face and compromised her balance. So Katy took time away from
agility and had her only litter of pups, earned her CD and RN titles until
2007 when Katy's desire to run agility overcame Sandy's unnecessary
concerns about balance. They started back at the Novice level in the
Preferred class and by Spring 2008 Katy had earned her AXP & AJP titles.
Katy also tried to prove she could be a
Versatility Dog and began tracking classes in 2006. But she couldn't get
Sandy to get up and out into sub-zero weather so they never completed
their training.
